Topsoil, sand & gravel are sold by the ton. The conversions formulas below will allow you to calculate the approximate tonnage you will need.
Topsoil
1 ton = 1 cubic yard
L x W x D/27 = tons
Gravel and Sand
1-1/2 ton = 1 cubic yard
L x W x D/27 x 1.5 = tons
(L=Length, W=Width, D=Depth)
